Photo Guidelines for Your Custom Pet Portrait

The quality of your uploaded photo is the most important factor in creating a stunning portrait. Follow these simple tips to get the best results.

Quick Tips for the Perfect Photo

  • Take a photo in natural daylight or a brightly lit room
  • Use a smartphone or high-quality camera
  • Make sure your pet's entire face and neck are visible and not in shadows
  • Avoid heavily filtered photos so we can accurately capture your pet's true colors
  • Have your pet look directly at the camera at eye level, facing forward — other angles work too, but your pet will appear in that position in the final portrait

Not sure if your photo will work?

No worries! Send us your photo and we'll let you know. We often create portraits of pets that have passed away, so we understand it's not always possible to follow every guideline. In many cases, we can still make it work.
